Pro PT Physical Therapy Mission Viejo

Physical Therapy is the practice of providing assistance to individuals in order to develop, maintain and restore maximum movement and functional ability throughout their lives. Therapy occurs when movement and function are threatened by aging, injury, disease or environmental factors.

Through evaluation and programs of treatment, our Physical Therapist are well qualified to treat a wide variety of conditions including but not limited to:

  • Pre and Post Operative Care

  • Spine Conditions

  • Musculoskeletal Conditions

  • Degenerative Joint Conditions

  • Sports Injuries

  • Postural or repetitive stress injury

  • Chronic pain

  • Work related injuries

  • Motor vehicle injuries

Our therapist use a hands-on approach in combination with specific modalities as needed. They are trained to improve movement and function as well as relieve pain and expand mobility potential.

Most commonly used procedures/modalities:

  • Manual (hands-on) Therapy: consist of myofascial release techniques, stretching of restricted structures and precise strengthening of weak muscles, soft tissue and joint mobilization/manipulation. They help restore your neck, back or other painful areas to their pre-injury state.

  • Pain Management: Use of moist heat, cold packs, Ultrasound, iontophoresis, electrical stimulation and massage

  • Therapeutic Exercise: Custom-made for each condition including strengthening, stabilizing, and stretching restricted structures to restore normal pain free range of motion. The exercises improve functional mobility and re-establish proper muscle balance

  • Postural Education: This addresses behavior modification, postural exercise and self awareness. Emphasis is placed on correcting musculoskeletal derangements

  • Home Program: A short custom tailored home exercise program corresponding to the appropriate stage of condition.

  • Patient Education: Individualized instruction as to the nature of your condition, treatment plan and functional goals. Safety precautions and do’s and don’ts for self management upon discharge.
